Naveen's letter to Gadkari for second bridge on Brahmani riveBhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday wrote to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari pressing for the construction of a new bridge over Brahmani river on NH-143 near Panposh in the steel city of Rourkela.

“There is an old narrow two lane bridge over river Brahmani which connects Biramitrapur and Barkote. The bridge is in a distressed condition and is not at all adequate to meet the requirement of safe and swift movement of the people and the freight,” said the CM in his letter to Gadkari.

“As the road is the economic lifeline of this part of the state and is catering to the rapid industrialization process, I request you to intervene in the matter urgently and direct the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to take immediate step to construct the second bridge in the large public interest, he added.

Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray, who had raised the same demand earlier, has welcomed the Chief Minister’s move.
