Mayurbhanj people thank Naveen for initiative on med college
Intellectuals and eminent citizens from Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for taking quick steps to start admission at the Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada from this academic session.
Many intellectuals, along with hundreds of citizens from the district, marched to Naveen Nivas, the residence of the Chief Minister, performing their traditional dance along the way and showed their gratitude by handing him over bouquets.
Notably, the Supreme Court-mandated oversight committee on Sunday had approved commencement of admissions at the Medical College and Hospital from the 2017-18 academic session with 100 MBBS undergraduate seats.
Earlier, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had not granted the Letter of Permission (LoP) to the institute. This had created unhappiness among the people of the district. They had also observed bandh in the district over the issue.
