Home Ministry seeks report on egg attacks on Union ministers

JUAL ORAMBhubaneswar: Union Home Ministry on Friday asked the Home Secretary, Government of Odisha,for a detailed report on egg pelting on Union ministers during their visit to the state.

In the second such incident this week, eggs and stones had been thrown at Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram’s car during his visit to Kendrapara on Wednesday. Earlier, eggs had been hurled at Union Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh.

Oram had written a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding a probe into the incident and action against the miscreants.

“Some miscreants attacked my vehicle en-route and pelted stones as well as hurled eggs. This kind of mishap happened four times at different places on the route,” the Sundargarh MP had said in his letter to the Union Home minister.

Oram said the Government of Odisha has failed to provide necessary security to visiting Union Ministers even after their full itinerary was provided to the concerned authorities of the state well in advance

Citing the recent egg attack on Radha Mohan Singh, Oram accused the state government of lapses in providing security and termed it ‘undemocratic’ behavior.

Meanwhile, the Odisha BJP unit is observing a seven-hour bandh in Sundergarh on Friday condemning the egg attack at the vehicles of Union Ministers.
