Hasan Ali powers Pakistan to win over South AfricaBirmingham: Pakistan got second time lucky at Edgbaston, Birmingham, as they bounced back to win a crucial match against South Africa to keep their hopes alive in Champions Trophy 2017. They had lost to India badly at the same venue.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. They could manage just 219/8 in 50 overs. David Miller was the top scorer with 75. Quinton de Kock made 33. Chris Morris (28), Kagiso Rabada (26) and Faf du Plessis (26) were the other contributors.

For Pakistan, Hasan Ali took 3/24, while Junaid Khan 2/53 and Imad Wasim 2/20 were the other top wicket takers.

Chasing a victory target of 220, Pakistan were 119/3 in 27 overs when rain stopped play. The D/L method came into force and they won by 19 runs. Fakhar Zaman (31), Babr Azam (31*), Mohammad Hafeez (26) were the top scorers. Morne Morkel took all 3 wickets.

Hasan Ali was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
