The state government has allocated Rs.314 crore to build the proposed 100-seat medical college in the tribal-dominated and mineral-rich district.
The institute-cum-hospital has been a long-pending demand of the people of the district.
Patnaik had laid thefoundation stone for the state’s fourth government-run medical college here on November 2, 2016.
SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla, are the other three medical colleges run by the state government.
