Passions ran high in Dhamnagar area following communal tensions, which threatened to disturb peace and harmony in Bhadrak district yet again. Section 144 has been imposed in Dhamnagar, Bhagbanpur, Palikiri and Dobala Bazaar for 24 hours till 10 AM tomorrow to prevent any untoward incidents.
The trouble started when four houses of a particular community were gutted in a fire mishap last night in Fatepur in Dhamnagar block. That led to tensions between two communities. 5 platoons oof police have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
Bhadrak Collector Gyan Ranjan Das, SP Anup Sahoo and other people’s representatives and officials rushed to Dhamnagar to take stock of the situation. Peace Committee meeting has been convened to restore normalcy in the area.
Meanwhile, District Collector has sanctioned Rs 98,000 the family that suffered complete loss due to fire at their house. 3 other families that suffered partial damage, to get Rs 3,200 each.
