Agni-III Missile test-fired from Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha Coast

India successfully test-fired its intermediate-range ballistic missile Agni-III off Odisha coast on Thursday.

According to reports, the missile was test-fired from launch pad no. 4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Abdul Kalam Island at 9.10 am.

Agni-III, which was inducted in the armed forces in June, 2011 has a strike range of more than 3,000 KM and capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes.

The missile is 17 metres tall with a two-metre diameter. It weighs about 48 tonnes.
