Good news Zoom users! You are eligible to get up to Rs 1874 if you used zoom between 2016 and 2021

If you are a Zoom user, and paid for the app between March 2016 and July 2021 then you may get up to $25 (around Rs 1874) from the company in a class action lawsuit over security issues.

If you want to know why Zoom is providing this amount to its users then read the reason below.

Zoom is one of the most-used video-conferencing app. The app soared in popularity during the Pandemic times as people all over the world had to work from home due to the long lockdown periods.

The Zoom app is mainly used for office conferences, online classes, and meetings. However, the app was accused of compromising users privacy and security. Allegation were brought up against the app that it is sharing the personal information of users with third parties.

However, the app denied these claims. Now, a new report has revealed that Zoom is going to pay $85 million to settle the action and improve its privacy and security policies.

The company is going to pay upto $25 to users whose personal information has been compromised as a claim settlement. However, this is not applicable for all Zoom users as only US users are eligible to file a claim.

According to reports, the paid subscribers of Zoom, who paid for the app between March 2016 and July 2021, can file a claim for $25 or get 15 percent of the amount they paid.

Apart from this, the users who have registered, used, opened, or downloaded the Zoom Meeting App” between March 30th, 2016, and July 30th, 2021 are also eligible to claim the settlement amount. However, these subscribers will only get $15 instead of $25.

How to make a Zoom lawsuit claim to receive the settlement money?

To make a claim, you need to submit a Claim Form.

You can submit the claim form at www.ZoomMeetingsClassAction.com or by mail.

You have to apply for the claim before March 5, 2022. So you will have to file the claim before the said date to get money from the company.

As per the Vice, the group that sued Zoom for allegedly sharing users’ personal information, sent email to Zoom users and informed them about the claim and how they could get the money.

The email says, “If you are a Class Member who paid for a Zoom Meetings App subscription, between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021, you are eligible to file a claim for $25 or 15% of the money you paid to Zoom for the core subscription (i.e, not including optional add-on features/support that customers may add to their subscriptions) during that time, whichever is greater. For example, if you spent $75 on a Zoom Meetings App subscription during the relevant time period, 15% of $75 is $11.25. Because $11.25 is less than $25, your claim will be treated as a claim for $25.”
