Xiaomi Smart Glasses launched; Users can now take calls, click photos with glasses

Xiaomi has launched its first new smart eye wearable device– Xiaomi Smart Glasses . The Xiaomi Smart Glasses looks like normal sunglasses but are embedded with sensors and have various new features. The Xiaomi Smart Glasses are lightweight, weighing at 51 grams.

The Smart Glasses have an imaging system that enables the various features. As per the company statement, the Smart Glasses are also equipped with a new MicroLED optical waveguide technology that will display messages and notifications you receive in front of your eyes.

Apart from this, the Glasses can also make calls, offer navigation using augmented reality (AR), capture photos, and translate text right before your eyes.

Price, Availability

However, the company has not revealed the pricing and availability information of the new Xiaomi Smart Glasses yet. It may come to global markets after it is made available in China.

Xiaomi’s new Smart Glasses will compete against Facebook’s recently introduced Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses.

Feature, Design and Specifications

The frame of the Xiaomi Smart Glasses has a squarish structure and has thick bands that sits on top is slightly thick. These bands are laden with sensors.

The MicroLED imaging technology helps to lower the design space needed in structural design, as well as the overall weight of the device.

“MicroLEDs have a higher pixel density and a simpler structure. This allows for a more compact display, as well as easier screen integration,” says Xiaomi.

The MicroLEDs has a display chip measuring just 2.4×2.02mm.

Xiaomi claims that the display is roughly the size of a grain of rice, with individual pixels sized at 4μm.

The Smart Glasses have a monochrome display solution. It allow sufficient light to pass through the glasses. The glass display can reach a peak brightness of 2 million nits.

The Xiaomi Smart Glasses has integrated a total of 497 components which also includes miniature sensors and communication modules, said the company.

Xiaomi said that the wearable can also minimise interruptions at inconvenient times and display important information when needed.

According to company statements, the glasses also supports XiaoAI AI assistant for voice commands which is said to the ‘primary interaction method’.

Apart from this, the glasses will only show the important notification (smart home alarms, urgent information from office apps, and messages from important contacts) by filtering all the notifications.

The built-in dual beamforming microphone and speaker in the glasses allows users to make Phone calls.

The navigation feature of the glasses shows roads and maps in front of the users so that they can navigate on the road safely.

Users can also take photos using a 5-megapixel camera present on the Xiaomi Smart Glasses. This also helps to translate audio into texts.

The company has said that the Smart Glasses run on the Android operating system.

Other highlights of the Xiaomi Smart Glasses include a quad-core ARM processor, a touch pad, and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
