WhatsApp is reportedly planning to launch a new feature that will allow group admins to delete inappropriate messages send by a member for everyone in the group. This feature will provide more authority to the group admins of chat groups.
According to a report in XDA Developers, the Meta owned instant-messaging is currently testing the feature. With, this upcoming feature, group admins can delete messages for everyone in the group.
Let us tell you that, WhatsApp currently only allows its users to delete their own chat messages in a group. The group admins does not have the ability to remove messages sent by other members in the group. However, they can remove a group member, restrict them from sending messages in the group. They can do this by changing the group setting to admin only.
The move seems to be aimed at giving more control to WhatsApp group admins over the content of their groups. It may help them ensure that all group members follow decorum and follow the purpose for which the group has been made.
The group members whose messages were deleted will receive a notification message that will notify them that the said message/media was deleted by admin. If there are mor than one admin in the group then the message will show the name of the admin who deleted the message.
The said feature is currently under testing and developing, said the report. It also did not divulge any information on when the upcoming WhatsApp feature will be released.
According to reports, WhatsApp is likely to roll out the new feature on WhatsApp Beta. Then the app will release it for everyone.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp recently launched new tools for its disappearing messaging feature. The new controls allows users to set the time limit of the Disappearing Messages to 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days after the time they are sent.
WhatsApp is also testing a new privacy feature for its users that will allows them to restrict selected users from seeing their last seen, profile pic and status.
