WhatsApp working on a new chat filters feature
Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new chat filters feature for all users that would let users find chats in a simple and quick manner. The new feature of the instant messaging app has been rolled out for business accounts and it will allow them to manage multiple chats more efficiently. However, the company may release it for non-business accounts later.
Let us know the details about the feature.
According to WABetaInfo, the new advanced filters feature has been rolled out for Business accounts for Android, Desktop and iOS users. The chat feature will allow users to find chats quicker. The WhatsApp feature tracker has also said that the feature will be available to all users in the future update.
The new chat filters will include options like unread chats, contacts, non-contacts and groups. Selecting one of these options will only show those chats on your screen. This will help users to refrain from muddling through all chats and navigate faster.
The report said that the filter button is visible to business accounts when tapping the search bar on Desktop. The app is trying to make it easier for users to search for unread chats, contacts, non-contacts, and groups. The non-business WhatsApp accounts will also be able to use the same feature in a future update of the app. However, the filter button will be always visible even when you are not searching for chats and messages.
The chat filters feature is reportedly available in WhatsApp Desktop beta v2.2216.40. The feature is set to come to stable versions of WhatsApp Business later, along with other features that the platform has been developing. The new update may include quick replies and identification of ‘legal’ names of those who have enabled UPI payments in the app. The feature is under development for standard WhatsApp accounts.
WhatsApp has recently rolled out a bunch of important features such as the ability to transfer files up to 2GB, emoji reactions and more.
