WhatsApp to roll out Group Membership Approval feature soon, increases maximum members in a group

Popular messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that will enable users to add more members in a single group. Even though the feature existed earlier, it was limited to just 256 members. Post the new update, WhatsApp users will be able to add up to 512 members in a particular group. On the other hand, according to WABetaInfo, the platform is also testing a feature in which WhatsApp group admins will have an option for ‘group membership approval’. The ‘group membership approval’ will enable group admins to approve who can join the group chat through an invite link.

Group expansion feature

The new WhatsApp feature has been made available on both Android and iOS platforms. The Apple users get the particular update in the WhatsApp version 2.22.11.75 for iOS. On the other hand, the Android device users will be able to access the update in the WhatsApp version 2.22.12.77 for Android. WhatsApp had announced its larger group capacity feature some months before.

In order to avail of the latest feature of 512 members, just make sure that you are using the latest version of WhatsApp. If you have any doubt about the latest version of the software simply go to App Store or Google Play Store and download it. Now, create a group and try to add members up to 512. In case you are wondering that 512 group members is too huge, then you will be surprised to know that messaging platform Telegram offers up to 200,000 members in a single group chat.

The Meta-owned messaging platform has also rolled out a larger file sharing feature along with an emoji reactions feature. Users can now share files up to 2GB size along with emoji reactions features.

WhatsApp is also reportedly planning to launch a more value-added feature to the messenger app after bringing disappearing messages and multi-device support. According to reports, WhatsApp has rolled out a ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode in the latest beta update. However, it’s is only available for the iPhones with iOS 15 software. With this feature, users can block incoming calls and also message notifications.

WhatsApp feature tracker, WABetaInfo reported that the Meta-owned app is working on a new feature that will allow users to block incoming calls and message notifications. You can enable and disable the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode by going to the settings.
