WhatsApp new feature to allow users to hide their profile photo, status from unwanted persons

WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging app in India. The meta-owned app has always introduced new features to give users a better chatting experience. The app provides various security features for its users data and personal safety.

Now, WhatsApp is allegedly rolling a new feature with an update for its desktop users on its official beta channel. According to reports, the new update reportedly brings a new “My Contacts Except…” option in its privacy settings that will allow users to hide their profile photo, status from unwanted persons in their WhatsApp contact list.

Currently, WhatsApp provides the option of hiding our profile pictures from everyone, all contacts and nobody. But WhatsApp may soon include the “My contacts except..” Option to the list.

The new update is being released in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.2149.1, said reports. WhatsApp feature tracker, WABetaInfo has spotted the new feature and said, “This feature will be likely released on WhatsApp Web/Desktop when WhatsApp has completely rolled out the same feature on Android beta and iOS beta. Unfortunately, there isn’t a known release date for the feature to be enabled for more users on iOS and Android.”

WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp is now working on a new option called “My Contact Except…” for your privacy settings right within WhatsApp Web/Desktop!” according to WABetaInfo.

The option “My Contact Except…” will be available for Last Seen, About, and Profile Photo, according to the source. The new “My Contact Except…” feature will provide more control over privacy of the users.

This feature will most likely be rolled out for WhatsApp Web/Desktop users after the feature was released on Android beta and iOS beta.

The report also revealed that even if the feature “My Contacts Except…” is already activated for the beta testers, they cannot see or select “My Contacts Except…” on WhatsApp Web/Desktop yet.

However, there is no information on when the feature will be available to more iOS and Android users.

Aside from that, WhatsApp is also working on a new building Communities. WhatsApp recently rolled out a new feature that will allow users to preview voice messages before sending it to contacts. With this feature, you can listen to the recording before sending it so that you can send a perfect message. WhatsApp also allows you to discard the voice message if it is not how you wanted it to be. This feature will be available for both Android and iOS users. Moreover, the preview is available for individual as well as the group chats.
