WhatsApp users can permanently hide their chats by the help of the archive folder feature. The archived chats will stay muted even if they receive new messages in that conversation.
This feature will help users to hide the chats of people you don’t want to see or reply. This feature will prevent the unwanted conversations of a group or a contact from appearing in chat window without blocking them. The Archive folder allows users to ignore a group or person without having to block them.
Previously, WhatsApp allowed users to Archive chats that kept them hidden until a new message comes on the group, which then automatically unarchived it.
WhatsApp rolled out the new Archived Chats settings in July. It will allow users to keep their archived chats muted even when they receive a new message in the chat. If you don’t want to hide them and want them to show in the main chat window then you have to unarchive them manually.
How to permanently hide chats on WhatsApp?
The new Archived settings allow users to archive both individual and group chats. You wont receive any notification for the archived messages and you can see them in the Archived section. So if you want to hide unimportant and unwanted chats then follow the simple steps below:
- Open WhatsApp app.
- Select the chat (group or indivisual) that you want to archive.
- You will be asked to choose among three options that will appear on top. The options are Pin, Mute, and Archive (downward arrow facing icon).
- Now tap on the Archive button.
- The Archived section will show up on the top of your chat feed. You can go into the section and see your hidden chats at any time.
- You can unarchive the chat anytime you want by selecting the chat and tap on the Unarchive option (upward arrow facing icon) on top.
- You can also archive all chats at a time by going to the chats tab and tap on More > Settings.
- Now tap on Chats > Chat History > Archive all chats.
- All the chats will be archived.
