WhatsApp adds voice status feature as its latest update

WhatsApp has introduced the ‘Voice Status Updates’ feature for all its users recently. This feature will allow users to record voice notes and share them as their status in the Meta-owned app.

This feature is introduced for both Android users as well as iOS users.

Users can now access the voice status feature by going to the ‘Status’ section and clicking the ‘Pencil’ icon next to ‘My Status’. On the status update page, the ‘Mic’ icon can be seen at the bottom right of the screen to record voice notes or messages. The voice message of the status can be recorded for 30 seconds.

Users can also choose who should be able to see the voice status and who shouldn’t be using WhatsApp’s private audio selection feature.

Earlier, the audience who could see the status was manually selected from the app’s setting menu and it would become active for all users. With the addition of WhatsApp’s private audio selection feature, the private audio selector can be selected for a specific status.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature called ‘screen-sharing’, along with a new placement for tabs within the bottom navigation bar, to beta testers on Android.

This feature will allow users to easily share their screens during a video call.
