Toyota Lunar Cruiser: This vehicle will allow you to travel on Moon or Mars

Automobile manufacturer Toyota is globally renowned for the efficient technology and durability offered by its vehicle. While the sedans of Toyota offer great comfort, the SUVs and pick-up trucks offered by the company are great utility vehicles. However, now Toyota is planning to make vehicles that can be driven on the surface of other planets (Moon or Mars). Even though this news sounds out of the box, the company is actually preparing to make this project possible. This vehicle is dubbed as Lunar Cruiser.

The Lunar Cruiser pays homage to the much popular Land Cruiser segment as it will be reliable, durable and offer great quality. Unlike other vehicles the Lunar Cruiser will provide ample space for its passengers to eat, work, sleep and communicate among each other. Unlike other cars, the Cruiser gets a robotic arm to perform tasks like inspection and maintenance.

The company (Toyota) plans to make this project live by the end of 2020s. Toyota is currently working with the Japanese national aerospace and space agency- Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on this Lunar Cruiser. This vehicle will be using fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technology for power. Toyota and Jaxa had signed the first agreement on this lunar project in June 2019.

“We see space as an area for our once-in-a-century transformation. By going to space, we may be able to develop telecommunications and other technology that will prove valuable to human life,” Mr. Takao Sato, project manager of lunar rover development at Toyota Motor Corp told The Associated Press.

Even though we have to wait for some more years for this project to become successful, we are extremely excited about it. We are currently coming across various researches that show that habitation of humans in other planets as well as moon might be possible in future. If Toyota becomes successful in producing this vehicle, it will be a step forward in the space as well as automobile sector.
