TikTok might make a comeback to India after two-years, Know details

TikTok might make a comeback in India after two-years of its ban as reports have suggested that its parent company ByteDance is seeking partners in India.

In the year 2020, ByteDance had to exit the country after apps like TikTok were banned by the Indian Government in 2020 for allegedly sharing user data with China. Now, it is reported that TikTok is now ready to return to India after two years.

ByteDance is reportedly looking for a partners in India who can help the company re-launch in the market and also help them hire employees, both old and new for its growth. According to a report in Economics Times, ByteDance is talking to Hiranandani Group, which already has a data centre business named Yotta Infrastructure Solutions.

The TikTok parent company is looking at local solutions to get its business up and running in India once again, which could also mean that TikTok could make its comeback in the market after 2-years. However, the report also quoted a senior government official and stated that talks haven’t reached the formal stage yet, but it seems the Centre is aware of such plans and will be looking into the business model for required approvals.

If TikTok really returns to India, then it will have to work according to the rules and regulations of the Government of India. That means it will have to host all the user data in the domestic market itself. ByteDance could follow the strategy of Krafton, which is the parent company of PUBG, to re-launch TikTok. Krafton relaunched the PUBG Mobile back in the country with a different name and policy. So, if ByteDance follows Krafton’s policy, then it might have to consider renaming TikTok before bringing it back to the Indian market.

The return of TikTok will be a pleasant news for many people as the app was very popular and had a millions of users before it got banned in the country.
