Sony’s Xperia Pro-I launched with a 1-inch camera sensor; Price, specs

Sony has introduced a new Xperia Pro phone for photography enthusiasts. The phone is named as Sony Xperia Pro-I, where ‘I’ stands for ‘Imaging’, is equipped with a 1.0-inch camera sensor with phase-detect autofocus. The phone has quad camera set up at the center of the phone.

That 1.0-inch type camera sensor is borrowed from Sony’s very popular RX100 VII point-and-shoot camera, but it has been ‘optimized for a smartphone’.

That means, the primary sensor on the Pro-I has 2.4µm-sized pixels and it can also shoot 12-bit RAW files and native 4K video at 120 frames per second with eye-detection auto-focus.

The sensor is coated with a stabilized 24mm Zeiss lens made from glass that goes from f/2.0 for the shallowest depth of field to f/4.0 when utmost sharpness in photos.

The main camera also has features Sony’s pro-grade Real-time Eye autofocus for both photos and videos.

The other cameras in the Pro-I includes one of Sony’s BIONZ X imaging processors which allows users to giving it the ability to shoot up to 20 frames per second with both auto-focus and auto-exposure enabled. It has two other 12MP cameras on the back including a 16mm ultrawide camera and a 50mm telephoto camera.

Sony Xperia Pro-I has two physical camera controls including a two-stage shutter key and a circular shortcut button. The shutter key has a textured surface and professional dampening. The circular shortcut button helps users to control parameters like white balance, exposure and focus.

The Xperia Pro-I is capable of shooting 4K video at up to 120fps for 5x slow motion.

The other specifications of the Xperia Pro-I is similar to Xperia 1 III. The phone features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and and 21:9 aspect ratio.. It is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset with 12GB of RAM.

The device has up to 512GB storage, which can be expanded furthervia a microSD card. The phone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it also has Sony’s LDAC and DSEE audio technologies. The device also features a built-in mono mic to capture voice cleanly and clearly in a video.

It packs a 4,500mAh battery. The smartphone comes with a 30W charger, and USB cable in the box.

Sony’s Xperia Pro-I Price, availability

The Sony’s Xperia Pro-I is priced a little high at €1,799 (around Rs 1,56,788) set to go on sale in December. It will be available in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the Nordics. The Pre-orders for the Xperia Pro-I will be starting from October 28.
