Samsung’s Galaxy Fold gets globally launched

New Delhi: Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited completely foldable smartphone on Friday. Priced at $1980, it is the most expensive smartphone ever launched by Samsung.

The smartphone is among the world’s first to come with dual, foldable screens. Samsung Galaxy Fold also packs all the high-end specifications.

The Galaxy Fold smartphone is confirmed to hit the shelves in the US starting April 26. Though the smartphone’s India launch is not confirmed, it is expected to hit the retail shelves in India around the same time.

Specifications

The handset comes with a 4.6-inch screen to a 7.3-inch tablet with QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED screen when opened. With a screen resolution of 1536 x 2152 pixels, 16:10 ratio, Samsung Galaxy Fold runs on Android 9.0 (Pie). It is fitted with Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855, Octa-core and Adreno 640.

The discussed smartphone is the first in the entire Samsung smartphone line-up to feature 6 cameras. It includes a 10MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture on the outside, three cameras with 16MP (Ultra-Wide), 12MP (Wide) and 12MP (Telephoto) rear triple camera, and dual front cameras with 10MP and 8MP (RGB Depth) sensors.

Since the foldable screen will have two screens, it will consume more power. Hence, Samsung has fitted its Fold with 4380mAh battery, which is the highest in the entire handset line up. It also is a fast charging one.

It is important to note here that Samsung Galaxy Fold lacks 3.5mm jack for ear/headphones, it does sport a 32-bit/384kHz audio output with Dolby Atmos/AKG sound.

The fingerprint is side-mounted with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

Samsung will be releasing Galaxy Fold in four colour options- Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue.
