New Delhi: Oppo at its MWC 2019 event in Barcelona on Saturday unveiled its 10x lossless zoom technology. It will be integrated into its next smartphone to be released in Q2 2019.

With this new launch, Oppo is all ready to give competition to DSLR, at least entry-level ones.

Oppo detailed its 10x lossless zoom tech at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. As the name suggests, users can zoom up to 10x without losing the quality, similar to how optical zoom in a few smartphones and DSLRs work.

Oppo said that its new 10x lossless zoom tech is already mass-production ready and that the camera tech will find its way to its “next smartphone”, set to release in Q2 2019

The catch, however, is that modern smartphones haven’t crossed the threshold of 5x zoom. For instance, Samsung’s Galaxy S10+ offers up to 4.3x zoom. Oppo aims to disrupt the smartphone camera technology with its new lossless zoom feature.

The Chinese company also showed off a working 5G smartphone. The smartphone maker has partnered with Qualcomm to integrate the latter’s chip in its devices. This means that its 5G enabled handset will ship equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. But, there was no mention of a completely foldable phone.
