New Smartwatch Chipset To Be Launched By Qualcomm On September 10

New Delhi: Qualcomm is all set to launch a new chipset for smartwatches at a mega event on September 10 in San Francisco. The company has already revealed the invites for the show which has a round-shaped smartwatch set for 09:10 hours and a caption that reads- “It’s time”.

Although not much is known about the new chip at present, it is being assumed that this one will be a successor to the Snapdragon 2100 chip launched in 2016. As per the information revealed by Winfuture.de, the new processor can be produced using 28nm process technology and may be named ‘Snapdragon 3100’.

Interestingly, Qualcomm’s senior director and business lead for wearables Pankaj Kedia had revealed in May that the company is working on the successor to Snapdragon 2100. He has also stated that the new chip will offer a significant battery boost to smartwatches besides a reduced footprint to enable more compact designs.

Analysts are of the opinion that Qualcomm will also announce a new smartwatch manufactured by one of its partners. LG, Huawei, Samsung and Google are also planning to launch new smartphones in the later half of this year. However, it is still unclear as to who would first launch smartwatches with Qualcomm’s new 3100 processor . It is also being touted that Google is all set to organise a major event on October 4 to launch its Pixel smartwatch, besides Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and an all-new Pixel Book. Furthermore, Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy Watch on August 9 at an event in New York city.
