Know How to Port Your Existing Mobile Number To Jio And Get Home Delivery Of New SIM

Like all other telecom companies, Jio also allows you to port your existing mobile number to both its prepaid and postpaid services through online and offline channels.

You can get the new SIM card delivered to your doorstep by home delivery if you don’t want to venture outside and go to a store. you can use the My Jio app to book the home delivery of the new SIM.

How to port your mobile number to Jio online

Just like other operators, Jio lets you get the delivery of your new SIM card online if you don’t want to go out and visit a store. Currently, online booking of a Jio SIM is limited to post-paid connections, But you can ask the executive visiting your home to give you a prepaid SIM instead also.

To do that follow these steps:

-Go to the Jio site.

-Enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number.

-Now, click on Generate OTP button.

-You will receive a text message containing the OTP.

-Enter the six-digit OTP (one-time password) for verification and click on the Validate OTP button.

-Provide your address details on the next page.

-Click on the Confirm button.

-You will get a call from Jio executives for further confirmation of the delivery of the new SIM.

-Ask them about (Mobile-Number-Portability) MNP facility on the call.

-Generate a Unique Porting Code (UPC) from your mobile phone by sending an SMS message.

-To generate UPC, Type “Port” followed by your 10-digit mobile number and send it to 1900.

-You will receive a code that is valid for four days. (30 days in Jammu and Kashmir)

-You’ll need to share that code along with your address and ID proof with the JIo executive.

How to port your mobile number to Jio using My Jio app?

You can also order the home delivery of the new SIM through the My Jio app. To do that follow these steps:

-Go to the MyJio app and then tap Not a Jio user? option. (This option will only appear if you are not using a Jio number or have logged out)

-You’ll now get a pop-up with an option Port-in to Jio. Click on that option.

-Enter your full name and 10-digit mobile number in the form that will appear.

-Now tap on Generate OTP button.

-Fill in the form asking for your address details for delivery.

-Click on Confirm button.

-Now, you’ll get a call from a Jio executive asking for your address to deliver the new SIM.

-Ask them for the MNP facility.

-Verify whether you need a Jio prepaid or post-paid SIM.

How to port your mobile number to Jio offline

If you don’t want to follow the cases mentioned above then you can follow the offline method to port your phone number.

To do that follow these steps

-Generate UPC by sending an SMS message “Port” followed by your mobile number to 1900. You’ll get an SMS message with the UPC code and its validity date.

-Now, visit your nearest Jio Store or Jio Retailer with the UPC code and your address and identity proof.

-Clear all your pending dues with your current operator if you have a postpaid connection.

– If you have a prepaid connection, your remaining balance will be forfeited once you port your existing number.

Note: The Mobile Number Portability (MNP) process takes up to 48 hours in case of an intra-circle port. However, if you’re changing your telecom circle, it may take up to four days. The porting process is expected to take 15 days for Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and customers in North East India.
