How to prevent someone from adding you to WhatsApp group
Bhubaneswar: WhatsApp has grown to be one of the most popular means of communication today. Facebook-owned popular messaging app has about 65 million active users with India boasting the highest number of customers.
But what does make WhatsApp annoying is unnecessarily getting added into a group and then it becomes absolutely rude to leave and irritating to stay in the group.
While you can mute notifications for a period of time ranging from eight hours, one week to one year; you can also tweak your settings so that you cannot be added to a group depending on your preference.
Follow these steps to get the desired:
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your phone
Step 2: Go to the Settings tab and under that click on the Accounts tab
Step 3: Click on Privacy
Step 4: Tap on Groups
Step 5: Here you will see three options: “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and “Nobody”
Step 6: Depending on who you actually want to be added by, choose any one option
It is important to note here that if you choose “Nobody”, then a group admin has to send you a private invitation to join the group.
Additionally, follow these steps to block an admin to ensure that they can’t add you to a group anymore.
Step 1: Go to the group in WhatsApp, then tap or click the subject of the group.
Step 2: Tap or click the phone number of the admin you wish to block.
Step 3: If prompted, tap or click Message {phone number} or Send Message.
Step 4: A blank chat with the admin will open up. Tap or click the phone number at the top.
Step 5: Tap or click Block > Block.
