Honda to Launch Honda Jazz Hybrid in India in 2020

New Delhi: Honda is all set to launch Honda Jazz Hybrid in India in 2020. Instead of directly moving on to Electric cars from Petrol or diesel engine cars, Honda seems to start with Hybrid Cars.

And the reason behind this as stated by the company is that it will take time to create a network of electric charging stations for electric cars across the country. The upcoming third-generation 2020 premium hatchback will be the Honda car to get a hybrid powertrain in India.

Speculative Rendering of Hybrid Jazz

The 2020 Honda Jazz is likely to get a petrol mild-hybrid powertrain in the Indian market and is likely to be followed by the 5th generation City C-Segment sedan next year, which will also use a similar powertrain. Apart from the petrol mild-hybrid powertrain, the car is also expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which will be BS6 compliant and will be shared with other Honda cars.

The 2020 Jazz will be officially revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show by the end of this year. As of India, it is expected to be launched early next year in the 2020 Auto Expo.

Honda’s Jazz Hybrid will borrow the intelligent multi-mode drive hybrid car technology from the flagship Honda Accord Hybrid sedan but the unit used on the Honda Hybrid Jazz will be much smaller. Honda Accord is priced at Rs. 43 lakhs and is the costliest car in Honda’s line up. The Jazz Mild Hybrid is expected to be much cheaper with a starting price of under Rs. 6.5 lakhs.

Takahiro Hakikeo, president and representative director of Honda Motor, said the company has targeted to electricize two-thirds of our global automobile units sales by 2030.
