Here’s how you can translate Telegram message to your own language

Messaging app Telegram received a major update in January that has brought a slew of new features to enhance the user experience. The new update has added a new in-app translation feature to the chatting platform that will enable users to read message received from any group or contact in their preferred language.

With this feature, you can instantly translate any message you’ve received in a non-native language without even leaving the chat window.

This feature will be helpful for those who have wide a network of friends and colleagues from the other around the world. It will help them when talking to their friends and colleagues from the other corner of the world.

The feature is currently available for both the Android and iOS users. To use the feature, you need to activate it as it is not self-activated.

Lets us tell you that the latest update of Telegram, which was rolled out on January 2, 2022, will be the 12th update of the app since its official release.

In addition to the in-app translation feature, Telegram also got other new features with the update such as the quick reactions, setting default reaction to an emoji, hiding part or an entire message as spoilers and more.

How to enable Telegram translation feature 

Telegram already has a dedicated section to pick your preferred language for the app interface. The new translation feature is made available in that same section.

  1. Tap on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the homepage.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open Language option.
  4. On the top of the Language menu, you will see the Show Translate Button.
  5. Turn it on.
  6. Below the show translation button, another option ‘Do Not Translate’ will be there. You can use this option to exclude languages that you already know. For example, if you are using the Telegram app in English then English will not be translated to another language by default.

How to translate Telegram messages in your language

  1. Using this feature is very simple.
  2. Once you have activated the feature, go to any chat window of a group or contact.
  3. Tap on the message you’d like to translate. You will see a pop-up menu.
  4. Click on the translation option in the menu.
  5. Now, your message will be translated to the Telegram’s Default language.
  6. Tap on Close Translation when you’re done to go back to the chat thread and continue messaging as usual.
