Google offers an update to the Pixel thermometer app for its Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro devices

When Google launched its Pixel 8 Pro device last year, it had advertised a lot about the Pixel thermometer app. However, when Google launched the Pixel 9 Pro devices in 2024 (last week) we did not get a glimpse of the thermometer app. Even though the company did not bother to mention the technology even once during the launch event, it is still present in the Pixel 9 Pro devices.

According to the latest reports, Google is now offering a new update for the thermometer app. The new update for the thermometer app is v1.0.654975759. This new update offers multiple new features for the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. However, it is important to mention that the company is yet to ship the Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 9 Pro XL. The thermometer will now show an overlay to simplify aligning with an object.

The app now offers visual feedback about the proximity of the object whose temperature is expected to be measured. Users can check whether the object is too small to measure or whether they should move the sensor to maximise accuracy. Apart from that the v1.0.654975759 allows you to add frequently measured objects to the home screen. This will help save time for re-measuring.

Google had recently clarified that the Pixel 9 devices across the globe and the devices available in the Indian market do offer the same specifications. A few days back, the specifications of the Pixel 9 series revealed that the devices offered Wi-Fi 6 in India as compared to Wi-Fi 7 in the International markets. Similarly in India, the specs sheet showed that the Pixel 9 Pro series offered an Actua display as compared to the Super Actua display that is offered on the International markets.
