Election Commission launches Voter Turnout app for Android

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Thursday launched their ‘Voter Turnout’ mobile app for Android users of the Google Play Store. It will be used to see the real-time availability of voter turnout during the election season in the country.

“The ECI has undertaken a new initiative by developing an application i.e. Voter Turnout App, for display percentage of phase wise poll turnout for various rounds on the poll day. This application has been made public to view authenticated data published by ECI,” the Google Play store listing reads.

Notably, the ECI’s Voter Turnout app apart from showing the Android users an Estimated Voter Turnout for each State also shows them the voter turnout in various parliamentary constituencies in a state during the election season. Additionally, it also shows the voter turnout on the assembly constituency level.

Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena in a statement to IANS said that the app would increase the transparency of information pertaining to the voter turnout in public while ensuring that the same information is available easily for the media. “Once the election is over and polling parties return, the data would be verified and the final figure would be available on the app along with the breakup of male and female voters,” Saxena said in a statement to the news agency.

Users need to have a smartphone running on Android 4.4 KitKat or above to be able to use Election Commission’s newly launched mobile application.
