Taking a loan from Bank is one of the important financial decisions a person can ever make. However, it is not easy to get a loan sanctioned from a bank. One of the important factors which help you in getting a Bank loan is your CIBIL score.

A CIBIL score is a number which shows your credit history and your eligibility to take a loan. The CIBIL score is calculated in terms of the financial transactions taken in the past. CIBIL means Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited. The CIBIL score ranges from 300 to 900. If you have a higher CIBIL score the chances of you getting a loan is higher.

According to the CIBIL website, a score higher than 750 can make you eligible to get loans. Even though there are numerous agencies which offer to check your CIBIL score, most of them require a subscription fee. However, you can check your CIBIL score for free on the official website of CIBIL.

Here are the steps to check your CIBIL Score for free:

  • Open the CIBIL website .
  • Choose Personal option at the left corner of the homepage > help centre.
  • Click on Free CIBIL Score and Report.
  • Hit the ‘Get your free CIBIL score and report’ button.
  • A host of information like email ID, name, password, ID proof (PAN card/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar), date of birth, pin code, and mobile number will be asked from you.
  • After filling the above information, click ‘Accept and continue’.
  • Next page will ask you to purchase a subscription, click on ‘No Thanks’.
  • The next page allows you to pair the currently used device to the website. Select one of the options and click Continue.
  • An enrollment message pops up on the screen.
  • Click on the ‘Go to Dashboard’ button.
  • The next page is an optional one. Skip it if you do not find it necessary.
  • You can finally see you CIBIL score.
