ChatGPT image generation with DALL-E 3 now available for free users, says OpenAI

OpenAI now allows ChatGPT users, particularly those utilizing the free version of the platform, to generate image with the company’s advanced generative AI model DALL-E 3. The ChatGPT free users can generate up to two images daily using DALL-E 3. However, the paid ChatGPT plus users can use this feature for unlimited time.

The feature was initially exclusively available to the ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Now, the AI company has made the feature to a wider range of audience.

Announcing the availability of the feature, OpenAI shared a post on social media platform X and wrote, “We’re rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL·E 3. Just ask ChatGPT to create an image for a slide deck, personalize a card for a friend, or show you what something looks like.

“We’re excited to introduce the ability for ChatGPT Free users to create up to two images per day with DALL•E 3,” OpenAI stated. They encouraged users to experiment with the tool by offering sample prompts, such as imagining a superhero flying around Mount Everest with a powerful physique.

That means free-tier ChatGPT users can now create images with only text prompts. The ChatGpt users can now create visuals for a presentation, design a custom card, or bringing a creative idea to life, and generate two images each day.

OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 can be used to convert text into a wide array of visual styles, from whimsical illustrations to hyper-realistic images. In addition to DALL-E 3, subscribers gain access to enhanced features like early access to new tools, increased usage limits with GPT-4, and more.

OpenAI aims to introduce the capabilities of the generative AI to a wider range of people with the rolling out of this feature for free tier subscribers.

Meanwhile, OpenAI is currently worried about the impact of its newly introduced Voice Mode feature in ChatGPT on users. According to the company, users might form emotional attachments to the new feature. These concerns were highlighted in the company’s “System Card” for GPT-4o, a detailed document that explores the risks and protective measures related to the AI model. One of the key risks identified is the tendency for users to anthropomorphize the chatbot, meaning they might begin to attribute human-like qualities to the AI, which could lead to unintended emotional connections.
