BSNL launches Rs 78 prepaid recharge plan with unlimited calling and 20GB data
At a time when we thought the state-run telecom operator BSNL was down and out of the race, they have sprung back into actions with a good prepaid plan. For Rs 78 its users can get 10 days of unlimited talk time. Over that, the users will also get 2GB of data each day which means they will avail 20GB in ten days. And once the daily data limit of 2GB is hit, users can continue with unlimited downloads, but at a reduced speed of 80Kbps. However, the government owned operator does not have 4G services in the country. Hence, the users will get 20GB of data on the 2G or 3G network available on it. Yet, as per reports, in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India where BSNL works, the data network on BSNL 3G is very good as compared to some of the 4G state networks where Airtel and Vodafone operate.
Under this plan users can also avail unlimited video calling option, and to activate the same one needs to send an SMS ‘STV COMBO78’ to 123. And unlike other STVs from BSNL, this new prepaid recharge plan will offer calling benefits for making calls to users in Mumbai and Delhi circles as well.
The plan is expected to compete with Vodafone and Airtel’s Rs 65 and Rs 95 prepaid plans. Both these plans offer 28 days validity, but the benefits are different. The Rs 65 plan offers talktime of Rs 55, 200MB data and outgoing calls are charged at 1p per second. The Rs 95 plan, on the other hand, offers a talktime of Rs 95, 500MB data and outgoing calls are charged at 30 paise per minute.
BSNL was already offering a prepaid STV 78 plan in a host of Indian telecom circles. However, with the launch of BSNL Rs. 78 prepaid recharge plan, the state-owned telecom company has taken down the earlier available prepaid STV which came with the similar denomination. Point to note is that the old prepaid plan worth Rs. 78 from BSNL offered 2GB of total data for a period of three days and this one is for ten days.
