Apple Let Loose iPad launch: What to expect

The highlight of the upcoming event is the addition of the OLED screens for the iPad Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the introduction of the OLED displays to iPads will bring forth enhanced visuals, better brightness, contrast, and color accuracy.

The new iPad Pro models are also expected to be thinner than their predecessors. The 12.9-inch model could be 20% thinner and the 11-inch model could be 15 per cent slimmer. This sleeker design may owe partly to the adoption of OLED displays, though concerns about battery life linger.

Moreover, Apple will likely equip the upcoming iPad Pro lineup with the next-generation M4 chip . This significant performance and efficiency gains over the current M3 chip. However, updates for Macs are expected later in the year.

Another change expected is the relocation of the front-facing camera to the landscape bezel, similar to the base iPad. This adjustment aims to enhance the video conferencing experience, offering a more natural angle during calls.

The other Apple products we will likely see at the event is a redesigned Magic Keyboard for the new iPad Pro models and the third-generation Apple Pencil. The Magic Keyboard is expected to sport an aluminum base for a laptop-like feel, a larger trackpad, and possibly function keys, boosting productivity and usability. While the new Aple Pencil will feature swappable tips, Find My integration, and a squeeze gesture.

However, the addition of the OLED display and the new Chip will affect the price of the iPad. Reports have suggested that the upcoming iPads will be $100 more expensive than the current version and when factoring in accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, the overall cost might see a significant jump.

Moreover, the redesigned Magic Keyboard is rumored to remain exclusive to the iPad Pro models.

Apple is also expected to refresh the iPad Air lineup with a larger 12.9-inch model for the first time. However, this model will not receive OLED display rather it will continue with the LCD display.

Furthermore, Apple might announce the release date for iPadOS 17.5 during the event. Meanwhile, the iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and other updates will likely be launched at Apple’s WWDC event.
