Apple iPhone 13 Series expected to launch on September 14: What we know so far

Apple has scheduled a special event for September 14 and we expect the tech giant to launch the new iPhone 13 series at this event. The event will go live on YouTube at 10:30pm IST.

Though the company has not made any announcement regarding the upcoming iPhone 13 series, there are many  leaks about the new series, which have let us take a look at what can expect from the new iPhone 13 lineup.

iPhone 13 Series expected specifications

Variants

Just like the iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 13 series is expected to come in four variants including iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Pro and Pro Max is expected be the top-end variants with extra features and more powerful specifications just like the other line up of the company.

Design

The iPhone 13 lineup are expected to feature smaller notches compared to the iPhone 12 series. Leak reports have suggested that the notch will be 33 per cent smaller.

 The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are expected to come in Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, White and the Product Red colour options. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max may come in Black, Silver, Gold and Bronze colours this year.

Screens

The iPhone 13 Mini is tipped to sport a 5.4-inch display, and the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro could come with a slightly larger 6.1-inch screen. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is rumored to come with the largest display of the lineup which is said to be 6.7-inches.

The company is said to provide LTPO panels fro the Pro models which are expected to come with a dynamic 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. This will let the screen change its refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on what is being displayed which will save battery power.

Apart from this both the Pro models may get an Always-On display feature. However, the iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13 may not receive both the LTPO panels and Always-On display feature.

Storage space

The new series smartphones is tipped to have larger storage space. Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo of TF International Securities suggested that the iPhone 13 Pro series will have a 1TB storage version.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is going to drop the 64GB storage option for the iPhone 13 and 13 mini. Instead, the company will launch the phones with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options.

Currently, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini have a maximum storage option of 256GB.

As per Kuo, the company may add an extra 1TB option along with the earlier storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB for the Pro models.

Camera

The apple iPhone 13 series is expected to feature Cinematic Video, which will bring portrait mode to video.

The series is expected to have better filters which will now use AI to apply filters across various elements in a picture.

Previous reports have suggested that it could have a new astrophotography mode, as well as a ProRes video mode for a higher quality video.

Battery life

The iPhone 13 series is leaked to have larger batteries. The iPhone 13 Mini is expected to come with a 2,406mAh battery.

And the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro might get a 3,095mAh battery. The iPhone 13 Pro Max is expected to pack a 4,352mAh battery.

New chip

The new iPhone 13 series is rumored to feature a new A15 Bionic chip.
