Apple Event 2022: iPhone SE 5G, iPad Air M1, M1 Ultra chipset, Mac Studio and more unveiled

Apple On Tuesday announced several new products on its Spring event “Peek Performance”, which was hosted by CEO Tim Cook. The tech giant has introduced a new M1 Ultra chipset, the Apple iPhone SE 3, new Apple Studio display, iPad Air M1, and a M1 Ultra chipset for desktops.

The spring event started with a new show being announced on Apple TV+, Friday Night Baseball’. Apple then announced a new green colour option for the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro.

The most-awaited iPhone SE (2022) was also introduced with an A15 Bionic chipset and 5G connectivity as well.

This was followed by the much awaited iPhone SE (2022), which now has a slightly higher starting price at $429. In India, the new iPhone SE starts at ₹43,900, which is actually in the same range as the iPhone SE 2020. The new iPhone SE is powered by the A15 Bionic chipset along with 5G connectivity and an improved camera and battery life.

iPhone SE (2022)

The much-anticipated iPhone SE 3 was launched at the Apple spring event for a price of $429, which is higher than the expected price. The iPhone SE (2022) will be available in India with a cost of 43,900. As per the company, the new iPhone will be available from 18 March.

The new iPhone SE is powered by the A15 Bionic chipset, paired with 6-core CPU, 4 Core GPU, 16 core neural engine. It also gets 5G connectivity, 4.7″ Retina Display, water resistance, and an 12MP rear camera and improved battery life.

Apple Studio Display

Apple also announced the Studio Display at the event with an array of features. The entirely new system has now got an all-screen design with narrow border, an aluminium body. The stand allows users to tilt the screen up to 30-degree. Now, users can put the display in either portrait or landscape mode. It has got Nano Texture glass option.

The Apple Studio display has a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera that is placed at the Centre for FaceTime calls. For audio, it has high-fidelity six speaker sound system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.

This is a 27.5-inch display that is being called as a 5K Retina Display and has an anti-reflective coating. Apple has packed an A15 Bionic chipset inside as well.

For connectivity, it has got 3 USB-C ports, and a Thunderbolt port as well that can be used to charge the MacBook at 96W when connected.

Apple Studio Display price in India is set at Rs 1,59,900 with standard glass and Rs 1,89,900 with nano-texture glass.

Mac Studio

Apple also introduced a new desktop -Mac Studio with M1 Max and M1 Ultra chipset options.

This high-performance desktop sports a single aluminium body in a small compact form factor. It has a double sided blower for heat dissipation.

The Mac Studio has four thunderbolt ports, two USB-A ports at the back and 2 USB-C ports at the back, a 10G Ethernet port, an HDMI port, an audio jack, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 built in for connectivity.

The price of the device starts with $1599 for M1 chipset variant and $3999 for M1 Ultra chipset. Mac Studio is priced at Rs 1,89,900 for the base variant that comes with the M1 Max SoC, 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. One with M1 Ultra SoC is priced at Rs 3,89,900 with 64GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD in India.

Apple M1 Ultra chipset for desktops

Apple announced the release of M1 Ultra chipset for desktops. This chipset is built on the M1 Max. The Apple M1 Max has a special design that allows connectivity with another M1 Max.

M1 Ultra has a 114 billion transistors, which Apple claims is the most on a personal computer. M1 Ultra has a 20 core CPU and 64core GPU, and a 32-core Neural Engine. The new chipset is said to be nearly 8 times faster than the M1 chipset.

iPad Air 

Apple launched a new iPad Air at the event as well. The new iPad Air comes powered with M1 chip that has an 8-core CPU and a 16-core neural engine.

The new iPad Air features 5G connectivity, a 12megapixel ultra wide front camera, and support for Second Gen Apple Pencil as well. It is also support both Wifi and cellular.

According to Apple, the iPad Air is made of 100 per cent recycled aluminium. The new iPad Air is available in 64Gb and 256 Gb storage variants. The device can be pre-ordered at $599 from this Friday and will go on sale from 18 March. The Wi-Fi models of iPad Air are available with a starting price of Rs 54900 and Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at Rs 68900.

It is available in 5 new colours–new pink, blue colour options along with space grey.

Apple iPhone 13 in Green variant

Th iPhone 13 and 13 Pro models will now be available in a ‘Alpine green’ colour option. This variants will be up for pre-orders starting today.
