10 upcoming features of WhatsApp in 2022

Meta-owned instant-messaging app, WhatsApp introduced many new features and updates in the previous year, 2021. Now, users are looking forward to its upcoming features. WhatsApp is working on an array of   new features to give users a better chatting experience.

Some of these upcoming features are already being tested in beta version of the app, while the others are currently under development. A few days ago, WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo reported that the app is working on a new feature that will show profile pic of a sender in the notification, once a iOS user receives an message.

The new WhatsApp features are expected to enhance the messaging experience for the users.

Here is a list of some of the upcoming WhatsApp features that are under developement and are expected to roll out in 2022.

1. Display profile photo in notifications

The instant-messaging app is reportedly working on a new feature that will show profile picture in iOS system notifications when a user receives a new message from friends or a group.

2. Hide your ‘last seen’ from specific contacts

WhatsApp is also testing another much needed feature that will allow users to hide their ‘last seen’ status from only specific contacts. Let us tell you that WhatsApp already has an option that hides an users last seen from contacts. But, the shortcoming of this feature is that the users are also not able to see the ‘last seen’ status of their contacts.

However, with the new last seen feature, users can hide their last seen details from specific contacts that they do not want to see and be able to see the ‘last seen’ status of all the other people in their contacts. The feature is said to be already available in the beta version of the app and is expected to be released for all users in the coming weeks or months.

3. No time limit for deleting sent messages

WhatsApp currently allows users to delete a messages at a time limit of up to 4,096 seconds (68 minutes and 16 seconds) after it was sent. But new reports have suggested that the meta-owned app is testing a new feature on beta version to remove this limit once and for all.

With the new feature, users will be able to delete their sent messages from any time in the past. There is no information on when this feature will be available.

4. WhatsApp Community feature

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new community feature that is said to be similar to discord groups and channels. This is not the same as the groups feature that already exists in WhatsApp. With this new feature group admins will gain more more control over the different aspects of the app. Admins will be able to create upto 10 groups inside a community and can send message to all the group at once. The community chats will be end-to-end encrypted. The feature might be rolled out in near future.

5. WhatsApp logout

According to a report of WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new feature called logout to replace the ‘Delete Account’ button. Like Facebook and other social networking apps, the new feature will allow users to log out of WhatsApp accounts from their devices. The new logout feature is might allow users to operate their accounts on multiple devices at the same time.

The feature was recently spotted on the new beta version of WhatsApp. The WhatsApp logout feature is likely to be rolled out to soon for both iOS and Android versions of the app.

6. Instagram Reels on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to watch Instagram Reels directly from the messaging app. This is said to be a part of WhatsApp’s integration plan with other Facebook-owned apps.

7. Read later

WhatsAppp might improvise the Archived Chats feature to read later feature soon. Once a chat is moved to read later section, users will not receive notifications for the messages received from that chat.  Additionally, the feature will include a ‘vacation mode’, which will ensure that the ‘read later’ chats work the same way as archived chats on the current stable version. Users can customise settings by using an edit button. WhatsApp users can unarchive multiple chats at once.

8. WhatsApp Insurance

WhatsApp users can soon be able to buy insurance via the app in India. The instant-messaging app is set to roll out health insurance and micro-pension products on its messaging platform in India through tie-ups with licensed financial services players. Initially, WhatsApp will sell SBI General sachet-health insurance cover and HDFC Pension schemes through its platform.

9. Message reactions

WhatsApp users are soon going to be able to react to messages with images, just like Instagram and Facebook. The preview of the feature was allegedly spotted by WABetaInfo. Dubbed as meesage reaction, the feature will allow users to react to a message using a total of six emojis.

Users can find the Message reactions in individual chat threads as well as group chats. Furthermore, users get to enable/ disbale the notifications for message reaction from the ‘Reaction Notifications’ option.

10. Edit receipts while sharing media

WhatsApp will soon allow users to select new recipients before sharing their media.

    But log out is reason it may cause disturbance in security system of whatsApp. I think whatsApp will not be as secure as before. That’s the matter…..

    It is my opinion… I am normal whatsApp user only. Don’t mind words. Okk..
