Youth’s hand gets stuck while stealing from temple ‘hundi’, caught red-handed

Jagatsinghpur: In a freak incident, a youth was caught red-handed while stealing money from the ‘hundi’ (donation box) of a temple in Srirampur village in Tulang panchayat under Jagatsinghpur police limits in the district this morning after his hand got stuck in it.

The accused has been identified as Gobind Tripathy, son of Narayan Tripathy of the same village.

As per the report, the accused sneaked into the Panchamukhi Hanuman temple located in the village late in the night and tried to steal cash from the donation box installed near its entrance. However his hand got stuck in the box due to some reason and he failed pull it out till this morning despite all efforts.

Gobind was caught and detained by the servitors who arrived at the temple for morning puja later in the morning.

No police case has been lodged in the incident and the accused has been released with a note of warning, as he happens to be the son of one servitor.
