Youths duped on pretext of job in Kalahandi, 6 arrested

Kalahandi: Six persons were arrested by Bhawanipatna Town Police on Monday for cheating youths on the pretext of providing jobs in Kalahandi district. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Kumar Jena of Kendrapara, Dusmanta Jena of Angul, Baladev Behera of Dhenkanal, Kalandi Charan Gahana of Bhadrak, Harekrushna Rout of Puri, and Pradipa Panda of Kendrapara.

Reportedly, a complaint has been lodged by one youth Soumya Ranjan Nayak of Puri and another Manish Kumar Yadav of Bihar at Town Police Station claiming that they were called by Kalindi of Glaze Trading India Private Limited to Bhawanipatna promising them a job in a software company with a monthly salary of Rs 20,000.

They were asked to deposit Rs. 22,000/- for getting the job following which both the victims deposited the stated amount each.

The accused Kalindi and others who acted as trainers compelled them to work in a pyramidal networking (Ponzi scheme/ Chain)business. Later, when both the victims gained knowledge about the chain system business, they denied to take the job.

Thereafter, instead of freeing them the accused persons wrongfully confined them in a hostel for more than 10 days. However, Nayak was able to contact some of his friends and was rescued from a rented house in Bhawanipatna following which they lodged the complaint.

On getting the information, Bhawanipatna Town Police arrested the six persons and initiated a further investigation into the matter. Two notebooks, certificate of registration of Glaze Trading India Private Limited and cash of Rs 44,000 have been seized from their possession.
