Youth trampled to death by wild elephant in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: In yet another incident of jumbo attack in the State, a wild tusker has trampled a youth to death in Damol village under Mahabir Road forest range in Dhenkanal district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Santanu Samal (27) of the same village.

As per the report, Santanu had been to attend nature’s call to a nearby field in the village last night when the pachyderm attack took place. While getting freshen up in a village pond the victim came across the tusker which had sneaked into the area in the same evening.

The elephant reportedly lifted Santanu with its trunk to throw to a distance and then trample to death.

Forest officials rushed to the spot immediately and drove away the jumbo from the spot to send the body for autopsy.
