Malkangiri: A youth stabbed as many as six persons leading to the death of two at MV 33 village under Kalimela police limits last night in the district.
Police said that the accused Bidhan Mirida stabbed six people while a meeting of the villagers was undergoing to settle a family dispute.
“The youth suddenly got enraged and started stabbing people present on the spot with a knife. Locals managed to overpower him and later handed over him to the police. We have also seized the knife,” said a police official.
The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Ray and Madhabi Ray. The injured were immediately rushed to the Kalimela Community Health Centre from where they were referred to the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors said that the health condition of the two injured was critical.
Adequate police personnel has been deployed in the village to thwart any further untoward incident.
