Sambalpur: In a shocking incident a youth sustained critical burn injury after being set on fire over a petty incident at Khandhadhipa Chhak under Redhakhol police limits in Sambalpur district last night.
The victim has been identified as Hari Purohit of the same locality.
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between the drivers of two vehicles over unknown reason at Kahandadhipa Chhak which escalated into a scuffle later. The victim who was standing nearby tried to mediate in the dispute to settle the same amicably.
Irked over the attempt of Hari one of the driver sprinkled petrol on him and set to fire.
Hari, who sustained grievous injuries in the attack sustained burn injuries to his face, hand and upper part of the body was rushed to Redhakhol Hospital for treatment by some locals.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and launched efforts to trace the miscreant involved in the attack.
