Bhawanipatna: A woman was allegedly raped by a youth who had offered her a lift near Jaipatna in Kalahandi district.
Though the incident took place on October 5, the matter came to light today after the victim lodged a police complaint with Jaipatna police station today.
Police said that the incident took place while the victim was on her way to Bhawanipatna from Bhubaneswar on a private passenger bus.
“The victim said that she had alighted from the bus to attend nature’s call when the bus left. Later a youth offered her lift in his car and raped her in the vehicle. The victim also alleged that the youth again took her to a house and raped her,” said a police official.
Police have detained the youth for further interrogation.
