Sundergarh: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injuries in a car-bike crash which took place near Kutra bus stand in Sundergarh district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Himanshu Bag of Kutra slum. The critically injured person is Mohan Lakra of the same locality.
The victim duo was en-route to work to a nearby place this morning when the mishap took place. The driver of a car which was travelling in the opposite direction drove extremely right on the road due to recklessness and ended up hitting the victims’ bike.
While Himanshu sustained grievous injuries in the collision and died on the spot, Mohan who was riding pillion turned critical by falling off the bike.
The injured was rushed to Kutra CHC immediately by some locals and then shifted to a hospital in Rourkela for better treatment.
Angry locals staged a protest at the accident spot demanding immediate attention of traffic officials.
The blockade was removed after police reached the spot and had a dialogue with the protestors.
