Cuttack: Proving philandering to be a costly affair, police yesterday arrested a youth from Itamunduli village under Haladia panchayat in Cuttack district for allegedly duping a girl after maintaining physical relationship with her on the pretext of marrying.
The accused has been identified as Milan Barik (24), son of Manguli Barik of Paripalai village under Balichandrapur police limits.
As per the allegation against Milan, he came in contact with the victim girl while working in a weaving mill in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh State around two years ago. At a later stage the couple developed a proximity and the accused maintained physical relationship with the girl for quite some time on the promise of marrying her.
However, things went wrong last evening while Milan was on a visit to his lover’s house and the latter’s family suggested him for marriage at its earliest. While, he became ready for a court marriage initially, later declined for it claiming that his family will object the move over caste issue.
After a dispute occurred at the girl’s house over the accused’s refusal for marriage, Mahanga Police reached the spot and took him into custody.
An investigation is underway in the incident.
