Angul: A youth was brutally hacked to death by an unidentified assailant over past enmity at electric office Chhak under Pallahara police limits here on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Narendra Behera of Udit Nagar Sahi under the same locality.
As per the report, Narendra had been to have tea at a stall near the electric office chhak when the attack took place this morning. The accused chased him and hacked with a billhook before escaping from the spot.
The victim barged into a local resident’s house to save his life post the attack but fainted due to the grievous injury and profuse bleeding.
While local police rushed to the spot and sent the victim to Pallahara Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment doctors declared him brought dead there.
While police are searching for the assailant involved in the murder, locals have claimed that the deceased had been arrested in an eve-teasing case earlier and was released on bail a few days back. The attack might have link to that incident, they suspected.
