Aska: In a daring broad daylight killing, two unidentified miscreants hacked a youth to death near Sunamba Sahi Chhak in Ganjam district on Wednesday.
The miscreants hacked one Mitu Das of Sunamba Sahi by chasing him and fled the spot after the latter fell down on the ground. A group of locals rescued Das in a critical state and rushed him to Aska hospital. However, he was declared dead by the doctors.
Though the exact reason behind the brutal attack is yet to be known, past rivalry is suspected to be the cause.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased youth claimed that he was killed by two local youths. “Gakul and Kalia hacked my brother on his back and arm causing his death. They killed him over past enmity. We demand their immediate arrest,” alleged Sanya, brother of Mitu.
The local police have started investigation into the incident. Besides, a manhunt has been launched to nab the killers.
