Youth hacked by rival political party members in Balasore

Soro: In yet another case of poll related violence in the State, a youth sustained critical injury after being attacked by a group of rival political party members in Barajadeuli village under Soro police limits last night.

The victim has been identified as Prashant Behera of the same village.

As per the report, the attack took place late in the night while Prashant visited the Uparadia area of the village to collect party posters and banners following a election meeting. A verbal duel erupted between him and a group of members of a rival political party members over putting up of party posters.

As the argument escalated further one of the members of the rival party took out a ‘Bhujali’ (a sharp weapon) and hacked Prashant brutally. After the victim bled profusely on the spot and turned critical the attackers fled from the spot.

Locals admitted Prashant to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) later in the night.

Police have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.
