Bhubaneswar: Mystery shrouded over the death of a youth who was found dead in a room of a private office in Buddha Nagar area under Laxmi Sagar police limits in the city on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Baijayant Mohanty.
Mohanty, a resident of Sankarpur area in Cuttack was on a visit to Buddha Nagar in some work on the day of the incident. He was spotted lying on the floor of the office by some locals who live next door to the office in the morning. They immediately called up police and reported the matter.
Laxmi Sagar Police reached the spot and seized the body for autopsy later. It also conducted an investigation with the help of the scientific team.
While locals suspect it to be a case of murder, police are waiting for the autopsy report to decide its next course of action.
“While injury marks very likely in cases of strangulation were found on the neck part of the body, it would be premature to jump to the conclusion on the cause of the death. We are waiting for the postmortem report,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, police have detained two persons including a woman in the case on suspicion and their interrogation is underway.
