Youth found dead in Ganjam village, family alleges murder by in-laws

Berhampur: Tension ran high in Bhejiput village under Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district today after a local youth was found dead in front of a post office in the area under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Kedar Patra (38) of the same village.

As per the report, some locals spotted Kedar’s body lying in front of the Bhanjanagar Post office with multiple injury marks and blood emanating from nose and ear. They immediately called up his family members and informed.

After reaching the spot and sending the body for autopsy, the deceased’s family claimed that he had been murdered by his in-laws. They claimed he had a long-running dispute with his wife following which the latter had fled to her parental home.

Kedar had gone to his in-laws’ house located in Gadapur village in Kandhamal district on December 24 to settle the dispute with his wife and had returned recently. We suspect the hand of his in-laws in the murder, claimed a relative of the deceased.

Police have started investigation into the case.
