Jajpur: A youth drowned to death while taking bath in Brahmani River in Balipatna village under Kuakhia police limits in the district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Deepak Kumar Sahu, a resident of the same village.
Deepak, who visited the Brahmani River bank this morning along with a friend to take bath, reportedly slipped into the water due to some reason and drowned. After his friend raised an alarm some locals who were bathing nearby rescued the victim in a critical condition.
The victim was rushed to the Jajpur DHH in a critical condition and succumbed there under treatment.
Kuakhia Police has seized the body for autopsy and started an investigation in the case.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the freak mishap.
