Kandhamal: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the state, a youth sustained grievous injuries after being attacked by a wild bear in Budrumaha village near Letingia in K Nuagaon Tehsil in Kandhamal district last night.
The injured has been identified as Prerit Digal.
Prerit who visited a nearby field very late in the night yesterday to attend nature’s call came across a wild bear which had sneaked into the village in search of food. After chasing Prerit for a few distance the bear pounced on him suddenly and started attacking him. However, the bear fled into the forest after some locals reached the spot after hearing the screaming of the victim.
The victim was shifted to Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital in critical condition by family members later in the night.
The incident has left villagers in a state of panic.
