Ganjam: A youth sustained critical injury as he was shot at by his cousin brother in Ganjam district of Odisha on Thursday. The reason behind the attack is said to be land dispute between two families. The incident took place in Bhikapada village under Khalikote Police station.
The injured has been identified as Biren Dalei while the accused has been identified as Babu Dalei.
According to reports, Biren Dalei was taking a nap at his home this afternoon when Babu Dalei went to Biren’s house accompanied by his family members and opened fire. He fired 4 shots which hit Babu and he sustained critical injury.
After the incident, Babu fled the spot along with his family members. Hearing the gunshot Biren’s family members rushed to the spot and found Biren in a pool of blood.
They rushed him to Khalikote CHC. However, as his health condition deteriorated Biren was then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Mother of the victim informed that Babu opened fire at her son.
It is to be noted that the two families have past enmity due to land dispute.
